The Brookville Girls' basketball team claimed the championship of the Dixie Holiday Classic with a hard-fought win over Middletown Christian on Saturday. From the opening tip, both teams played with intense defensive pressure, forcing turnovers and making each possession hard-fought. The game remained competitive throughout the first half, with neither team able to gain a significant advantage.

Middletown Christian led by 1 point in the second quarter, but Brookville closed the half on a 7-0 run, taking a 29-23 lead into halftime. The Devils’ defense was a key factor in their late surge, forcing turnovers and converting them into points. As the second half began, it was clear this game was going to be a battle until the final whistle.

The third quarter was highly competitive, with Brookville holding a narrow 3-point lead with 4:34 remaining in the period. However, the Devils seized momentum with a 16-6 run to close the quarter, including hitting 4 three-pointers to extend their lead to 47-34 heading into the final frame. The offensive explosion from beyond the arc was a key turning point, as it gave Brookville a cushion going into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Brookville was able to maintain their lead with more timely shooting, solid team defense, and strong rebounding. Middletown Christian could not cut into the deficit, and the Devils were able to secure the championship with a well-rounded performance on both ends of the floor.

Brookville finished the game with another impressive team stat line, recording 29 rebounds, 16 assists, and 9 steals. The Devils' defense forced 20 turnovers, and their offense connected on 10 three-pointers, adding to their overall efficiency.

Jolie Gudorf was selectected tournament MVP; Megan Luebke and Kinley Kummer were named to the All-Classic Team.
