In a thrilling SWBL Buckeye Conference matchup, the Brookville Blue Devils emerged victorious against Oakwood, holding on for a 49-48 win. The Devils' hot shooting and early surge were key in maintaining their narrow lead throughout a tense second half.
The game began with a slow start for Brookville, as they found themselves trailing 9-6 midway through the first quarter. However, the Devils quickly found their rhythm, finishing the quarter on a 12-2 run. Key to their turnaround was an impressive display from beyond the arc, as Brookville drained four three-pointers in the opening quarter, ending with a 18-11 lead.
Brookville continued to build momentum in the second, scoring 10 of the first 12 points of the quarter. Their defense also stifled Oakwood's offense, limiting the Lumberjills to just 9 points in the second frame. The Blue Devils went into the break with a comfortable 32-20 advantage.
However, Oakwood refused to go quietly. The Lumberjills came out of halftime with renewed energy and began to chip away at the lead.
