The Brookville Devils hosted Waynesville on Saturday afternoon for their SWBL Buckeye Division opener and came out strong in the first quarter. With solid defense, strong rebounding, and efficient shooting, Brookville jumped to a 14-8 lead after the opening period.

The Devils maintained a 3-point advantage at halftime, but the second half proved to be a challenge. Brookville struggled offensively against Waynesville’s tight defensive pressure, managing just 13 points over the final two quarters. Despite fighting hard, the Devils couldn’t overcome their 16 second-half turnovers, which proved costly in a 50-42 defeat.

Brookville showed determination on the boards, outrebounding Waynesville 34-23, with standout performances from Jolie Gudorf (12 rebounds) and Lauren Coleman (8 rebounds). However, the combination of turnover struggles and limited scoring in the second half ultimately led to the loss.

The Devils will look to bounce back in their next matchup Thursday at Eaton as they aim to refine their offensive execution and limit turnovers.
